4th Annual Chain Off 2013
Animal advocates demonstrated with signs at Albert Johnson Park at the Las Cruces 4th annual "Chain-Off" on July 27th to bring attention to the plight of chained dogs. Over a dozen demonstrators carried signs, some with their companion dogs, in observance of the "Dogs Deserve Better Chain-Off" held annually in July in grueling heat and humidity in cities across the nation. The Humane Society of Southern NM and ACTion Programs for Animals, with members and friends, lead the demonstration and received enthusiastic support with 'thumbs up' signals and honking from motorists and passer-bys at the busy intersection at Main & Spruce streets. Loud honks from city firefighters passing in a fire department truck and drivers of semi-trucks rocked the streets in support of the demonstration.
